During this Why? Let’s Justify discussion, students in Ms. Latimer’s classroom were able to generate a justification for why adding a zero works when you are multiplying by ten. It is important to know that sometimes it may take more than one discussion to generate a justification. Perhaps it will take several discussions to work toward a justification, and each discussion will be an important step in being able to justify with understanding.
